    Justin Timberlake – Mirrors

    “Mirrors” is a song recorded by American singer Justin Timberlake for his third studio album The 20/20 Experience (2013). It was released on February 11, 2013 as the album’s second single, following his performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards. “Mirrors” is a pop song; its lyrics discuss a lover’s “other half” after having taken a break in their relationship. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, who complimented its production and lyrical content. It has peaked at number 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and at number one in the United Kingdom and within the top ten in several countries internationally.

    Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us

    “Can’t Hold Us” is a song by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton taken from their collaborative album The Heist (2012). It was released as the third single from the album on August 16, 2011. The song also features additional vocals by actress Susannah Wetzel, who sings portions of the chorus alongside Dalton.
    The song peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their second top 2 hit in the United States. In early 2013, the song was re-released and featured in a U.S. television commercial for Microsoft Outlook and features in adverts for the drink Miller. The song was also used in the background of ESPN College Gameday commercials and in the March 2013 premiere episode of MTV’s The Real World: Portland. The song has also been used in commercials for Miller beer.

    Krewella – Alive

    “Alive” is a song by American progressive house trio, Krewella. The song was released in February 2013 as the second single from their EP Play Hard.

    Nicki Minaj ft. Lil Wayne – High School

    “High School” is a song by American recording artist and songwriter Nicki Minaj featuring rapper Lil Wayne taken from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, the reissue of the former’s second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. It was released on April 16, 2013 by Young Money, Cash Money, and Republic as the third single from the album. The song was written by Minaj, Lil Wayne, Matthew Samuels, and Tyler Williams and was produced by Boi-1da and T-Minus. “High School” is a hip hop and R&B song that discusses adultery. Upon its release, it received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented its overall production and return to the style of Minaj’s earlier mixtapes. An accompanying music video was released on April 2, 2013.

    LL Cool J – I’m Bad (JyMix redux)

     

    “I’m Bad” (sometimes spelled I’m BAD) is the first single from LL Cool J’s second album, Bigger and Deffer. It was released in 1987 for Def Jam Recordings and was produced by the production group, The L.A. Posse and LL Cool J himself, with Russell Simmons executive producing the single. I’m Bad made it to several Billboard Charts, including #84 on the Billboard Hot 100, #4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, #2 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales, #34 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play and #1 on the UK Singles Chart. This single was followed by “I Need Love” and “Go Cut Creator Go”.
    The song samples the Theme from “S.W.A.T.” by Rhythm Heritage, Federal Signal Corporation’s famous Q2B siren, and an interpolation of the theme song from the 1960s syndicated animated series Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse. Diss track “The Syndicate” by Ice-T, mimmicks the song’s hook. The song would be sampled in return in Deejay Punk-Roc’s My Beatbox which appeared in Thrasher: Skate & Destroy
